Dental Crown Exam and Placement Procedures

Worry-Free Dental Crown Placement for All Patients

Kay Advanced Dental Concepts offers crown procedures to our patients who suffer from decaying or broken teeth. A crown is a permanently-cemented cap placed on a decayed or broken tooth. A crown fully encases a tooth to protect it from further damage, and at Kay Advanced Dental Concepts, we make the crown look so natural no one will notice it is a crown.
Dr. Kay provides a gentle and stress-free procedure, because we understand that any oral procedure can be uncomfortable. Our patients’ comfort is the main priority at Kay Advanced Dental Concepts, and we will do what we can to make your procedure easy for you.

Why Do I Need a Crown Procedure?

Most people need crowns to protect a broken or damaged tooth. A crown, also called a cap, provides the tooth with ultimate protection to prevent further damage. If you have a broken or decaying tooth, a root canal, large filling, or a broken filling, a crown may be right for you. While a crown procedure sounds intimidating, it is a very simple procedure that Dr. Kay completes in the office. A crown imitates the tooth, so that the structure and size stay the same. This way, your mouth will keep the same structure and there are no gaps. Our staff will keep you comfortable during the procedure, and you will leave with a protected tooth that looks good as new. Does your tooth meet the criteria for a crown? Contact us today for a dental exam.

What Does a Crown Procedure Look Like?

Crown procedures are simple and the doctor completes them in the office. In most cases, a crown procedure takes two appointments to complete. The first appointment is to fashion and prepare your existing tooth to receive the crown. We make a mold of the tooth, and then fit you for a temporary crown. You will leave our office with a temporary crown, and approximately two weeks later the final crown will be ready. We then fit the new crown, check the bite, and cement the crown to your tooth. The doctor will give you complete instructions on how to care for your new crown.
